Dr.softkorea

A physician who is a programmer. A programmer who is a doctor.

I wrote my first code in elementary school. That’s when I became softkorea — a programmer who hand-coded neural networks and implemented backpropagation from scratch.

Then somehow I ended up in medical school, and somehow became a doctor.

For twenty years, I lived between two worlds. In 2008, I built a 20-neuron pharmacogenomic neural network and presented it at AMIA. In 2017, I predicted “the speed of change depends on Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang” when Nvidia’s market cap was $65B (now $4.4T). In 2026, I write with AI, prove self-correction in neural networks, and debate the future of medicine with four AI models.

One eye sees patients. The other reads code. You need both eyes to see depth.

The dot in Dr.softkorea is not a separator. It’s a bridge.

Now I run an internal medicine clinic in Jinhae, a small city on the southern coast of Korea, where I see patients, write code, experiment with neurons, and write about what happens when AI starts to flicker.

초등학생 때 처음 코드를 짰다. 그날부터 나는 softkorea였다 — 신경망을 손으로 코딩하고 역전파를 직접 구현하던 프로그래머.

그런데 어쩌다 보니 의대를 갔고, 어쩌다 보니 의사가 됐다.

20년간 두 세계 사이를 왕복했다. 2008년에는 20개 뉴런의 약물유전체학 신경망을 만들어 AMIA에서 발표했고, 2017년에는 Nvidia 시가총액이 $65B일 때 “변화의 속도는 황사장님께 달려있다”고 예측했다 (현재 $4.4T). 2026년에는 AI와 글을 쓰고, 신경망의 자기교정을 증명하고, 네 개의 AI 모델과 의료의 미래를 논쟁한다.

한쪽 눈으로는 환자를 보고, 다른 쪽 눈으로는 코드를 본다. 두 눈이 있어야 깊이가 보인다.

Dr.softkorea에서 점(.)은 구분이 아니라 다리다.

지금은 한국 남해안의 작은 도시 진해에서 내과 의원을 운영하면서, 환자를 보고, 코드를 쓰고, 뉴런을 실험하고, AI가 점멸하기 시작할 때 일어나는 일들에 대해 쓴다.
